1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

If it is the "windy city" that you are referring to, I think the blowing winds is a misnomer; instead, I believe "windy" was a reflection of their history of politics and politicians. I think NYC is actually windier than Chi-town.

I'm sure it is pretty cold now though. :)

My visits to Chicago suggested that the winds lived up to the nickname, but you may very well be right about its origin.

You are correct about the origins of the name - Windy City. It refers to the breezy treatment of public corruption. That said, as a former resident of NYC and a current of Chi, there is no windier city that I know of on earth than Chicago. Yes, NYC can be windy--but it is a constant here.

At the depths, the wind chill was -50 below. By the way this isn't the coldest place that I have been though by a long shot. I was in Kajani, Finland and it was -32F and people were riding their bikes. Hoping it has begun to warm up. Looking for a pool party and BBQ on Friday when we hit 34.

Snatched my first pair of Ferragamos today with my missus on sale, comfort level pretty much like walking in snickers.

She vetoed against horse bit buckle so we can Vara buckle match... :embar:

though looking at them side by side remind me of The Ugly Duckling!

She reckons I spend more time on SF than on her, she is really happy with my recent post, which I made a point to show her :stirpot:

She should have stopped you buying those, though. Tsk tsk. We've all done it, especially in a sale...but Studio Ferragamo? There I draw the line! Shame on you.

Her shoes are nice though. Tell her mimo said. [IMG]

on the positive note, rather than the choice of colour, I can confidently pick her choice of ladies shoes!

My guess is that she made him buy them. Against his will.

haha, as long as she is happy! I sneaked in a pair of George Cleverley Brown Suede Loafers to go in tandem with them last night.
