Cleverley Semi-bespoke "Peter":

The toe looks quite... square. I guess this is the Cleverley shape that they're famous for, but I think it'll take me a while to get used to it.

Those nice shoe trees come with the shoes? or are they extra $$$?

I believe lasted shoe trees are normally included with Cleverley's Semi-bespoke shoes, but as I got my pair on sale, I had to pay extra for the trees. Which I really wanted, as I was worried that my generic trees wouldn't be good for the somewhat unusual and narrow last that these shoes were made on. Having said that, I had to go up half a size on the trees to get a good fit to my shoes, so it was lucky that I got to choose rather than having to accept whatever sized trees they would've given me.

Whoa. I'm not usually a fan of alligator shoes (make me think of Randy Newman's "Rednecks"--'Hustlin' 'round Atlanta in their alligator shoes...'), but those are pretty spectacular.

I don't recall ever seeing shell combined with gator. The extra thickness and richness of the shell plays extremely well against the gator. Spectacular.
