How's Silvano Sassetti's regular quality? There's a similar model on sale on amazon.de for 170€.

They arrived yesterday. Finishing seems quite solid. Leather seems a little weird, but I'm far from an expert so take it with a grain of salt. It's very soft, very "unicolored" and smells a little weird -- the leather of my Edgwares is much harder and stiffer, even after over a dozen wearings and the toe box and heel is much more "solid" in general; not sure which is "better" though because I often read that soft leather is good. Anyway, judge for yourself as best as possible, I took a couple picturess. The written size and model number in the shoe removes *very* easily, after trying the shoe on for a couple minutes it already partially rubbed off. Is there a way to get the last width?
Not sure whether I'll keep them. The 10 1/2 fits quite good. But I already have a pair of Edgwares, so two pairs with closed lacing and a medaillon? I'm just about to build my wardrobe so I think some more casual shoes (read open lacing etc.) would be the better bet, especially given my age (just turned 19). But then again, these seem pretty good value and look quite good. Also, different color than the Edgware. I hope you can tell me something about the leather quality.

RLPL Denver:

Our shoes appear to be identical with only a couple differences: RLPL model has channeled sole, better leather finishing, "nicer" inner leather lining. Denver retails for $1250 which is a total rip-off imo. The sub $500 mark for the RLPL seems more appropriate

The leather on the RLPL looks so much better, imo. What do you think about "my" leather? Also, is your leather that flexible, too?

1250$ seems far too expensive, I agree. But I also think 500€ for my pair is too much. I'm not sure whether the overall quality is that much better than Meermin's which would cost a little less, which is why I ask about the leather quality (at least to the extent you guys can judge it based on pictures) -- I think the finishing is superior though.

Do agree that the RL leather looks more substantial. Leather felt close to that used on the EG, but I was not paying too much attention at the time. Shoes still look nice though N.

I don't know why RLPL just didn't stick with EG, unless there were production or relationship issues we're not privy to.

'twasnt broken, but tried to fix it

G&G was a nice addition to the fold I think. Not entirely sold on Silvano Sassetti.

Wasn't that fussed on the last or the leather. I didn't think they had any place in that range (especially price range)

EG offers a more refined sober last while G&G caters to a more contemporary shape (at least the lasts / models in the RLPL range). Not sure where SS fit in.

+1. For whatever reason the SS RLPL line often looks too fussy and worked over to me. The above shoe is a good example of this.
