To stitch the outsole, a "square" awl...always. I am not surprise that your maker friend didn't want to do 16 spi with a round or "sewing" awl. Needs a square awl, nothing less will do.

"Sewing"and/or "Inseaming" awls (which are oval or round in cross-section) are meant for other purposes.

    Never!

Is it just me, or is this thread getting a little off topic?

I've been eyeing those on the website.

I groove on the sleek shape combined with the totally trad brouging and chunky shell leather - interesting combo - very interesting as a matter of fact.

I've two pairs of C's due in this week or next. One in shell, one in pebble grain.

you*re talking about the overall style. i value the higher grade of craftmanship that vass has to offer. we sang this song on these particular pairs, when they arrived back in the days. it's too obvious imo, anyway.

Fritzl, we sing the same songs all the time. I like the AS better you like the Vass--I like Vass as well but they do not really like my feet. (At the end of the day, my taste, and my feet, are English.) We are smart enough to leave each other with our opinions I would rather argue over footie. I have tremendous respect for your thoughts on shoes and your passion and commitment to a good dialogue.

Thanks! These are my first pair of cordovan shoes, so I can't make any comparative statements, but I really love these shoes.
