It's all about inventory issues. There is so much unsold deadstock in vintage shoes because shoe stores carried a model in ALL the requisite sizes & widths. Once they ran out of enough sizes, they stopped displaying the shoes. The remaining inventory was unsold & often stayed there for years. Now, unsold items go to discount stores, and too much inventory available at major discounts would hurt new shoe sales (retail price) by the manufacturer.

Re the vintage inventory in the Mum and Dad stores:

Traditionally all the unsold shoes remained in back of the shop for decades - now only to appear/resurface on eBay following the closing of these old shops.

Unfortunately the unsold deadstock is principally narrow widths caused by the inventory policy described above by isshi.

RL "Jermaine" tan hand burnished jodhpur boots. Made in Italy and at some point in time the retail was $1750. Still not sure if these are PL?

F - a great shot - reminiscent of a woodland fairy circle. (You don't want to try a few square toes? - maybe a nice Deco?)

Were you in a tree to get that angle?

That was the bait - he was up there waiting to pounce on greedy (and unwary) prey...all skulking in from SF.

I already agree that there should have NOT been a medallion on these. The Croc pattern was quite enough "toe dressing". If I could, I'd go back in my time machine nearly 70 years & tell the maker personally!

Berlutti shoes from 2003. I've had them refinished at the London, Paris and New York stores. Originally they were a chestnut with green and gold highlights. Then the Paris store gave them a rich burgundy finish. The NY store gave them this look. They have logged a lot of miles but the soles and the uppers remain in excellent condition.
