I find these two posts funny for a few different reasons.

Time for porn: Heinrich Dinkelacker burgundy shell cordovan derbies with double soles and a hefty amount of brass pins.

I have never understood the SF fascination for Central European hobbit shoes. I suspect their suitability for the weather in parts of Europe and USA/Canada has something to do with it but the style leaves me cold.

Yes, Dinkelacker is horrible. I've sold my pair ages ago, but as this maker's shoes are not very common in this thread I thought sharing would be in order. D's lasts are blobs, even the most contoured ones like this pair in the London last.

I would never wear them, but I appreciate their testament to quality and I like products that stay true to a historical design.

I've been told that, in the past, Dinkelacker made a good quality shoe. In modern times, however, the the quality has dropped. ESPECIALLY the leather. Dinkelackers tend to look "old before their time", as they crease badly & irregularly. Corrected Grain maybe? Shameful if that's the case for a $600+ shoe.

That said, I'm always on the hunt for an older Dink Brogue with that crazy ultra wide Goyser-style stitch.

+1. Those bad boys make Aldens look sleek. Those double soles look like they are not to be messed with. . .

IMO they're meant to be worn more casually. Kinda like less extreme versions of the shoes in this thread
