Why don't you train your shoemaker to send you photographs to keep you informed of the progress....

Just received this picture of my next pair today.[/IMG]

probably, this is a sign of a lack of confidence in his work.

i wouldn't want this. you can call it i-gentry, if you want or care.

    Hello SF,

My shoes were caught in a storm. When I got home I filled them with tissue paper and let them sit out to dry. The next day I noticed a crack in the sole (which is already pretty thin). What can I do? Does this mean I should resole them? These are Allen Edmonds Cliftons and it's not the first time they've been caught in the rain (maybe 3 times before). I bought them lightly used about a year ago.

    Thanks Sincerely [IMG]

Resole for USD100 as beaters or chuck them if they have 3 dunkings.
I've checked a bespoke maker's window at night in Florence right after I have arrived with the light of my mobile phone and I've seen an almost finished badass laofer of mine.

Is this the Shoe Porn version of stalking?

No, this is the Cravate_Noire version of realising that one has come to florence one day too early.

You should see the photo that jefferyd posted after shining them up -- they looked absolutely fantastic.

I rehosted the pic on imgur:

Jefferyd also posted these 82 last chelseas around the same time ... the mirror shine on the toecap is marvelous.

I will try to post better pictures.

ANDREA VENTURA SHELL CORDOVAN [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] I just purchased these on ebay from Italy. BIN was 230 euros, I offered 140 euros and did not expect the seller to accept it (I bought once from her previously some Silvano Sassetti double monks). Retail for these is aroud € 350. This will be my first pair in shell cordovan. Is ANDREA VENTURA Firenze a good maker? I've only seen some AV shoes on Yoox.

A+ for presentation and sole lickability.

Bar none the most lickable soles I have ever seen. And thanks for the compliments. Pictures are crap because of terrible lighting.
