1. I'd like to announce that animated avatars are now available again. You'll have to reload, but they are once more possible.

We've been doing a ton of work behind the scenes. The site load speed was already under 1/2 of what Huddler's was, on average, and we installed cloudflare, which means that the site should be even faster. A ton more will go on in the weeks and months to come, and some things will be more visibile, and some less.

    Cheers,

    Fok.

OK - the last few pages have been a lot of circle talk (that I have enjoyed). I will do a comparative post this week end between the EG Dover on 606 & Carmina on Robert last in shell.

In the mean time, the mail man delivered..

For the "poor man's Dover", the better choice than the Alden NST is probably the C&J for BB Peal split toe - either the more casually-styled one in brown pebble grain with double leather or Dainite soles or the more formal one with single leather soles, smooth calf leather, and less stitching on the sides of the shoe (not sure how to describe it).

    As you wish!

Barrie on the left, Aberdeen on the right. The are essentially the same size, Barrie is a 9.5 and the Aberdeen is a 10. The Aberdeen has a smaller vamp and while "sleeker" than the Barrie, the smaller size along with the vampt stitching make it seem as wide as the Barrie. This will sound silly, but I find the Barrie to be a lot sleeker as an NST than as a longwing. The longwing felt like a boat on my feet, this NST actually looks sleek on the foot. I prefer the NST on the Barrie to the Aberdeen, I think they needed to elongate the snout on the Aberdeen. An by sleek, I mean for Alden, these ain't G&G's or Vass U last.

Thanks ed; i'ms urprised at how similar they look , really. There isn't really that much difference to them - might have to snap up a barrie. I have an NST incoming on the plaza last, so i'm interested to see how that turns out.

Looks like Lobb Chambord in Buffalo, to me.

    I forgot about this one.
It's even better than teh Dover.

    These look great.

If anyone knows, are they the same model? And if so, the same colour just under different light?
