I like the black formal captoe over patent leather shoes for a tux all day long. The Vass are beautiful.

Absolutely. No matter how classic or correct patent leather is it's always looked tacky to me.

Only the Vass U-last could make a shoe that gorgeous in the normally bland and conservative black cap-toe.

Patent leather formal shoes aren't necessarily correct since a high-polished Russian skin pump was considered proper for that form of shoe.
