The country calf and heather gorse actually have a slightly different texture from each other, the former not quite as three-dimensional, its high points a bit less densely spaced.

    Did you use a microscope?

    Btw, great information.

These arrived this morning and just in time for Christmas. My wife ordered these for me with my monogram (DCW) from Shipton & Heneage.

    Slipper porn!

    Here are mine:

    Tricker's.

You can order directly from the Jermyn St. store. When I tried them on, I was advised they run a little small and I should go up a half size on my normal UK size. I did and they are a great fit.

Wondering off a beaten path near the base of Conduit Street, I came upon this cobblestone side alley:

And found a shoemaker, Petrocchi, alas it's closed:

Here's an example of his work:

these are the same ones as yours brother. just different color.

the color is 'dark brown' according to the label.

but it is not dark brown per se, upon close inspection it is a mix of dark red/burgundy and black colors not consistently blended but sort of kept apart but from afar gives it a purply/brown effect. really unique and cool color. i had a pair of these last year if you find my old thread on these.

these would definitely look swell in a wingtip as well. but these are definitely hot looking too.

I've been on the lookout for some reasonable quality "winter beater" brown ankle boots for the last week or so and came across these, which I decided to take a punt on. It seems George Webb closed as a maker in 1980 so they are either very old shoes (sold to me brand new from a shop) or he's back!

I thought as they are made in Northampton they can't be that bad so gave them a go. I've been wearing them today and I'm pretty happy with them. I won't compare them to my Lobbs after the kicking I got over Bexley! [IMG]

    Cheers,

    TB

Gosh, Conduit Street is in London, it must have been a long walk to end up in Via dell'Orso, 25 in Rome.
You must have been wearing really good shoes,[IMG]

Birgit Nilsson (1918 - 2005), asked by an interviewer what advice she had for a singer attempting Isolde for the first time
(Wagner's "Tristan and Isolde", is generally considered the Mount Everest of operatic performances):

"Get yourself a pair of really comfortable shoes!"
