I have a pair in dark Cognac and they are my most worn, and probably favorite, shoes. Good choice, GS.

I have a pair of bordeaux Budapester in last 3636 that is my favorite weekend shoes with jeans and chinos. They might look chunky and stiff, but Vass double soles are incredibly easy on the feet from the get go, quite different from EG's double soles which takes quite a while to break in. My only qualm about Vass soles is that they are slippery on wet surfaces, both the foresole and the heel (probably courtesy of the nice brass nails). There is something about its honesty that I like. Its "ugliness" has found a special place in my shoe rotation. Wear them well and proud.

That is a very nice pair of shoes. Are those on the 3636 last?

Brown SF Tramezza Accento via Holdfast. It's a quasi-wholecut with medallion as there is only one seam on the side making it look like a plaintoe from the side. I love the seamless heel and the shape. Tramezza are very well constructed and the best fit for my feet. [IMG]

Thanks. What is the darkest shade of cognac that Vass offers - the 6125 Dark Cognac?

After 6 months from ordering, the gunboats have sailed in

Vass Budapester brogue in navy calf. These fit PERFECTLY, and the navy is really cool. Very subtle, closer to "midnite blue" but def looks blue-ish in good light , which is perfect as I didnt want a cartoon-y blatant blue.

All the things everyone hates about Budapesters is what I like....the heaviness, thick doublesole, tall & chunky toebox.....PERFECTION!

Soles have metal toe tap (added the plastic heel taps locally).

All in all, I am super happy with how they turned out and cheers to Andrew Harris and Gabor [IMG]

these are awesome! they look cordovan actually (anything in a fullbrogue blucher in a dark color looks cordovan to me for some reason)

had second thoughts when you mentioned awhile back you were getting dark blue budapesters... but these are nice. definitely wear them in the streets of LA, melrose, wilshire, beverly, santa monica. ..casually.
something really 'bohemian' about the shoes. wear them in health Jason[IMG]

the raised toebox typical of hungarian shoes is a unique feature . you should have worn those to the outing last nite!

Glad you like 'em, Jason. But I still don't get them. And I'm surprised to see how many people proclaim them their "favorite" shoes around here. Maybe with all the sleek-lasted porn that goes around, something perverse in people draws them to the opposite...

It is a good break from the all too readily seen sleek shoes that bind the feet. Budapesters have character, and they are quite simply very comfortable. Great with casuals.

I really like the Norweger on that last [IMG] (I'd prefer a leather sole).
