Crazy what a hair dryer can do! This is my 10 year old, Italian made shoe from Aquila.

Shoe tree inside? With pressure or just the hair drying alone?

I saw Preston on Elegant Oxford mention that the factory finish on shoes can cause over creasing. It's possible you just melted that finish down to remove the crease.

It's a 10+ year old shoe that I neglected but it must be my beginners luck ?

when I was in military I would use hairdryer but that's to heat up the wax (though make sure you don't overdo...)

The problem is that the first time you do it, it seems to work pretty well. A few times down the road, and you've pretty much ruined the leather.
