Shoe color + pants rules?

I'm looking into buying some brown shoes and would appreciate the advice... what shade of brown goes best with:

Midnight Blue Jeans:
Dark Blue Jeans:
Average Blue Jeans:
Light Blue Jeans:

Khakis:
black/grey pants:
dark color pants in general:
light color pants in general:

and can black shoes be paired with any of the above? or is black just for formal dress shoes + suits only?

I prefer dark brown. And, yes, black shoes can be worn with all the colors you mention, but I prefer brown.

dark brown goes with everything?? I have dark brown shoes (nothing fancy) but with my dark jeans I think they look pretty horrendous...

If you can find some shoes which are a reddish brown, or at least a brown with a slight reddish tint, those would look very nice with blues.
