Shoe Appreciation: Norvegese, Bentivegna, Goyser, BIG Stitch & BIG Welts ONLY!

Hello all. Let me start by saying that I am a FANATIC for Norvegese, Bentivegna, Goyser, Big stitching & Big welts. I have posted a few in the regular Shoe Appreciation thread and have received "mixed reactions". As one poster said, it seems most people either "love 'em or hate 'em". Honestly, that's JUST HOW I LIKE IT!!!

I'll start with a couple I have already posted in the regular shoe Appreciation thread, just to get things moving. If anyone's interested, I've got lots more.

Very nice Bentivegna stitch on those Lattanzi's. I always liked Bentivegna because it's not so "extreme" as norvegese, but still shows off the construction technique.

I think Berluti still win over Santoni in this department. Though in general I only like Norvegese welt on Chukka/Boots, something heavy duty, anything else just seem a bit off to me (except a few Berluti wholecut maybe).

What do you mean, friend? You like the Berluti norvegese? Are you referring to the shoe styles, or the norvegese stitch itself? I'd love to see more examples. I've only seen 2 Berluti norv so far (both in pics). I'm pretty sure Stefanobi makes the Berluti norvegese. If you have any pics, please post them. THANKS!

"Norwegian" as a construction method, is not the solely the preserve of the Italians; English shoemakers can do it as well.

Here is a pair of "Norwegians", in style as well as in construction, produced by Foster/Maxwell for Jun Kuwana. But the look, in keeping with the two nations attitude to design, is rather different. While Italian Norwegians will scream at you, the English ones just whispers gently. There is none of that show-off, so beloved by Latin peacocks (be they makers or wearers). Probably viewers might not even notices that shoe being different from most other shoes. The stitching is far more subdued and the sole is cut much narrower, none of those boardwalks running all around the shoe.

Just a beautiful exercise in subtle understatement.

I mean the stiching, take a look at their store in NYC or London, don't own any Berluti, too rich for my blood, plus I think their style is too over the top 95% of the time
