Hi,

New to this so please be patient with me................I have a pair of boots that are different shades of tan, one boot is a darker tan than the other. My question is.....do I polish just the lighter boot or do I polish both? Thank you for your time. Amanda.

Polish the lighter one with something darker, and the darker one with something lighter. Over time they will even out.

Hello I am new to this forum so please be nice lol. I thought I would chime in with some of things I have done with shoes also. Working on changing shoe colors into something unique is a process that takes patience and is also very rewarding. It's great to see life come back to a pair of shoes that has worn out or just wants to be changed. Seeing all the works that people have done already is always great. I hope these photos show up. Thanks.

So I bought a pair of AE bicycle toes on Ebay for 50 bucks. They looked like this.

After spending hours reading this forum as well as a couple others, I decided to take action. I tried using cream and wax based polishes at first, and it just looked like ****. Finally I order some fiebings medium brown leather dye.

After 10 hours of learning / screwing up I finally finished.

I'm trying to decide now if I should take the welt darker than the upper. Thoughts?

Hard to tell from the lighting but they look pretty good. I would take the welt and bottom edge of the sole a darker brown. That way it brings less attention to the sole and more onto the upper especially now that it a darker tone.

Nice job. I definitely would go darker on the welt and sole, though.

Thanks Dawsokj I had a lot of fun with those although stripping off all the wax the client had piled on those shoes was frustrating. Here is another pair I did for a client. He had terrible toe damage and and I recommended he get new shoe but he was persistent in having the shoes redone.
