shirt with grey pants

what do people think of a predominantly brown striped shirt or checked with grey pants. i think it is ok, but my wife seems to think its not good. please comment. thanks.

Gray is neutral so in most cases it should look allright. IMHO of course

Brown and gray are both neutrals. It should look OK, but I'd add some color elsewhere.

I think it looks perfectly fine. Don't feel you have to go the all black route.
