I have been looking for a tie to go with a new shirt. The shirt is a white background with thich pink and medium purple stripes. Would a tie with a dark purple background and other purple pattern on it work for this?

Update:

So I ended up going back to Saks and buying the tie I'd seen. I think it will work well with the shirt, because there are two distinct purples in the tie; the background which is very dark, and the pattern which is lighter than the purple in the shirt. I think with a medium charcoal suit and cognac shoes it will look quite good. And, regardless, I couldn't pass up a Kiton tie for $69, tax included.
