Shirt Material to wear with chinos

What is the best shirt material to go with chinos? Linen? oxford cloth? which is the best brand? polo ralph button down, brooks brothers button down?

For summer? Lightweight cotton or linen of course. I'm particularly fond of gingham shirts with chinos nowadays.

can chinos take formal looking work shirts? or must the material be a little casual (like wrinkled oxford)?

Chinos can be worn with both. They can be dressed up or down.

With L.A.'s year round moderate temperatures and my business casual work environment, I wear chinos quite often.

As a result, I wear them with both dress shirts and sport shirts...it all depends on what kind of shoe I'm wearing and the overall look I'm going for.

Right now I'm wearing a khaki chino pant, AE Troy bluchers in chestnut, and green candy stripe OCBD.
