Hi,
Yes I used the search feature for this and didn't come up with an answer that cleared things up.

I have 3 shirts that I love but can't wear with ties because they shrank and I grew.
They all would look good with new white collars and possibly cuffs but can any average tailor do this?
Is it worth while?
Will they look proper or will it be a sketchy process?

I love the shirts and often wear them without ties but I would like to be able to wear them with ties.

Let me know what you think.

All custom shirtmakers I know of can replace collar and cuff.
Actually, many of my old shirts have done that. I had done that 2 times for 1 shirt by Ascot Chang. The also can let out 0.5-0.75 inch of collar, I don't know how far they could let out.
They may have some tiny little needle holes on the collarband but it shouldn't visble outside.

Hope it help.

Mike Maldonado (collarreplacement.com) would do it for $20, but I don't know if he still replaces collars. For a while he said he was going to quit taking new customers but that disclaimer seems to be gone now.

You could also opt for this style:

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
