Shirt Collar for Three-Piece Suits

A three piece suit is probably the most formal thing a man can wear (outside of day or evening formalwear). I'd go with a spread collar of some sort, of which a cutaway is an extreme example. Go for the cutaway if you like it and it looks good on you; otherwise a lesser spread of some sort provided the collar points end up under your jacket lapels. I'd avoid a button down collar as it is a more casual look and seems rather incongruous with a three piece suit.
