Shirt Button Pull - Shoulders and Chest

Hi Guys

I have been taking all my shirts to the tailors for some time. Firstly, I got them fitted around the body. Then I asked for the arms to be done too. Latterly, I asked for the shoulders to be properly positioned too.

Some come out the bee's knees.

However, some of them, I get pull lines from shoulder to button. I'm not sure why this is, is it not enough room in the chest? The shoulders are definitely in the right place. When I do the button up at the top, this minimises the problem a little.

To see an example of what I mean, take a look at:

Any ideas for a fix for the future?

Cheers

Francis

Are those iPad pockets on your shirt? They're massive, and might be creating a lot of the problem. Plus, there should be a little bit of that happening when the top button is unbuttoned. Not sure I see much wrong with those lines.

The pockets are a different story, though....

Haha, thanks! It actually isn't my shirt, just the closest approximation of my problem I could find online. I'll put up a couple of real photos as soon as my laundry has dried

But yes, it is just the lines I'm concerned with. My partner says I'm crazy, so I think I'm making a mountain over a molehill.

I'm not an expert but it seems like there is too much fabric in the trap area.

If you're getting the body, sleeves and shoulders altered, might it not be worth just getting your shirts custom made in the first place? Just a thought.

You have very square shoulders and the shoulders of the shirt are not cut to accomodate this. As mentioned above, you would be better off getting your shirts made custom, then this could be accounted for.

so I spent approx £49 for the shirt and £15 for altering, does this ball park figure open the doors to MTM shirts?

Some photos now guys

Two questions - firstly, is the arm OK length wise for the cuff-links shirt, the last photo I'm extending my arm out as much as possible, at this point the cuff linked wrist folded section can almost pop all the way through and get caught, I then have to sort of pop it back into the sleeve of the suit jacket again, that only happens if I'm really reaching out.

Secondly, what do people think about the 'pull' I've been describing in the blue and black shirts... am I over reacting? Tell me they're OK! Well, be honest actually!!! :-D

Here are some photos guys - what do you think, is the 'pull' across to the shoulders really bad or not that noticeable?
