Anyone care to comment on these v. C&J Lowndes

http://www.shiptonandheneage.co.uk/b...oe-5692-0.html

from what I can se, they aren'y quite such an elegant shape (and I do love the 348 last), but for a shoe I would like to fill a gap, even if wouldn't wear that often, I'd like to be convinced, even at less than half the price.

Any action pics?

I'd be all over that price if they had my size.

I am wearing those S&H doubles in calf skin right now, and although the colour is fantastic and rich and nicely antiquied, I don't like the overall design of them too much. In the end they're quite a bored looking shoes, which in addition to the last shape may be down to the fact that the buckles are located and the straps run way too low, almost touching the sole, unlike in many nicer looking models.

Made by Cheaney, and for that price they are very good value for the money and would make a good addition to any collection. I am not a big fan of Lowndes (either), that's way I ordered Ramsey from AS.

Spoo - why don't you just have AS make you a pair of their version? Looks similar enough and Chay will be in NYC at Leffot on 4/21. I plan to get one made one of these days likely in a fun medium brown suede.

Thank you, David. Maybe I need to clear the calendar for 4/21 at Leffot.

If anyone has a ballpark for these though, would be curious.

Spoo - is there a particular reason you like the swept-back strap style of the Lobbs and those Sargents?

The reason I ask is that I find those to be not that different in look from a single monk.

What I love about the double-monks are how they come across the foot and you have the buckle details both in the front and the back.

Personally, I dig the swept-back style seen here primarily because of their uniqueness. They have a dramatic effect without being over the top while retaining a classic feel. That kind of style balance isn't something you see everyday. Of course, I love both single and double monks as well. :^)

David pretty much nailed it. Not only because they are unique, but Im not a clunky shoe fan at all (ya feels me, chukkas?

) and these are the sleekest, sexiest dub munx I have ever laid eyes on. The profile pic says it all for me.

I still think that the Chapels are sleeker and cleaner. Then again, I am awaiting that lovely pair of navy chapels for when I get back home and this might be a way of psychologically justifying my purchase.
