Shipping something to myself in a different city

I need to ship something to myself in a different city. In a nutshell, I want to buy new wheels/tires for my car. Shipping these things to where I live costs 50% of the total. I'd ship to the general post office, but this isn't an option with FedEx or UPS. So, does anyone know how this could be done?

Is cost an issue? I don't know if you can ship large tires to a post office. Something that big would probably have to be shipped via freight carrier. What city are you shipping to? Is there a UPS or FedEx store nearby?
