What is the best method of shipping shoes with insurance and tracking from the UK to the US? Speed is not a factor...

I've had shoes shipped from parcelforce for 15 great british pounds via thin red line (2 pairs for 15 quid in the same box)

all other shoes i've purchased have not paid more than 20 GBPs for shipping per pair of shoes - shipped and insured with tracking.

any suggestions? thank you.

If you purchase from a UK company, they might have special UK rates.

If you purchase from B&S on styleforum, the pricing includes shipping - so you have no problem.

Never waste your time trying to sort out shipping fees from overseas. Also delays from the UK are horrendous - weeks late, and if it's a big package - forget about it (see above link from MoK).

Additionally, why are you concerned about insuring the package? If you buy something - and pay with paypal - it is the seller's responsibility regarding the package until you are delivered the package. If the package is LOST or Damaged or not delivered - that is not your problem and you can simply request a refund from paypal. The seller is responsible for insuring the item, not you.

Listen to me - from experience - STAY AWAY FROM UK to USA shipping.

I've never had a problem and have shipped many items from the UK to the USA. I always use Royal Mail.

Royal Mail International Signed For Airmail is a great service, with very reasonable insurance rates. Its 2kg limit covers most clothing items too.

Above 2kg, you're in the realm of Parcelforce or the other couriers (UPS/Fedex/etc). The prices jump markedly at this level. Companies may have their own discounted rates with couriers, which individuals are not able to access, as ThinkDerm says.

US customs services are causing delays entirely of their own, esp. to non-courier items. Expect to add a week in customs, maybe more. Things seem a bit quicker now than they did a couple of months ago though.

If speed is no issue, and you just want to haggle somebody's shipping price down the most you can but still with insurance/tracking (which is the vibe I'm getting off the OP's post), and the package is under 2kg, the cheapest service would be International Signed For Surface Mail. It will take a LONG time (months) to reach you, however. Do you really want to wait that long, just to save a few quid?
