"shine" on wool fabric -- anything to do?

On the arms of coats or the seat of pants, 'shine' happens. The fibers are all pressed together, I guess.

Is there anything to do? Perhaps, wetting or gently abrading the fabric?

I would check the AA Encyclopedia but I can't find the disk.

Any advice appreciated.

steam and brushing with a soft brush.
keep elbows off the desk and dont sit down.

Yep, I just fixed this on a suit. Lay it out on the ironing board and steam the bejesus out of it, then brush briskly with a clothing brush. Repeat until it's gone.
