Norvegese braided stitching test:

Around 10pm last night, I was cutting an order from Horween Color #4 and I didn't notice it had a superficial cut in the section I cut after I clicked it out. So I decided to do a test I've been meaning to do for awhile. I realized after I finished that I can do the same stitching on the back but didn't for this particular one since it was a test. The stitching itself is just decorative and doesn't add anything in terms of longevity to the wallet but it looks really awesome. This is at about 3 SPI vs. my normal 6 SPI. I'm going to do some tests around 5 SPI with different thread and then two colors of thread too to see how it looks. It takes double the amount of time to stitch but I think it adds a unique element to the wallet.

You've made my day yet again @Deusis (well technically its 12.01 here but i suppose it still counts), the 3 SPI stitching looks really unique. It kind of reminds me of loom bands? But way classier of course.

Am I right to assume that if you were to complete a wallet with 3 SPI compared to your usual 6, your turnover time would be faster?

I kind of like the chunkier look of the 3 SPI. I have some even thicker thread I could use that might look even better. I'll be curious to see what higher SPI look like (5 - 7 SPI).

It isn't necessarily faster because it is using two sets of thread instead of one. It was a bit clunky too since it was my first time doing it. If I practiced it might end up being faster if I stuck with 3 SPI though.

It is thicker than what I normally use. I typically use thread that is around 0.6mm. This is 0.8mm. I actually do have some 1.0mm thread too that I might try to see how it looks. I like the chunky look of it.

More shell cordovan, not necessarily wallets. Finally finished up my slip through watch strap pattern and it is officially up on the website ($80!). Very happy with how it turned out. Pictured is Horween Black, #8, Brown, #4 and Natural.
