I got a couple pairs, and they seem to be very sheer, and you can almost see through them. Is this normal?

What kind did you get? the Sea Island cotton?

All my 20+ pairs are the wool type, and they are just the right thickness, and not sheer and see through.

I think the cotton blends show this shearing effect. The predominantly wool ones definitely don't.

wool ones and cotton ones show it slightly around ankle. I might just be OCD.
