Sheepskin Jacket advice?

I recently bought a second hand sheepskin jacket which for the most part is in great condition. I've had to do some small repairs and tweeks myself but there's one issue that I don't know how to resolve on my own. The outside part of the collar has discoloured and taken on a more tough texture than the fur on the inside of the jacket which remains soft and a pleasant shade of brown.

My question is: can I do anything to restore the colour or texture (preferably both) of the fur on the collar?

i dont know, but i think that's a job for a professional.

not every dry cleaner is equipped to handle shearling leather jackets. in fact, most aren't. i would send it to a specialist.

my go-to is rave fabricare in arizona (they take mail-ins). i've sent them some tough jobs in the past and have gotten back really good results.

you can also try superior leather in nyc. they specialize in the cleaning and repairing of leather goods.

Thanks for the reply. It was a fairly cheap second hand jacket so was looking for a DIY solution if possible but that seems unlikely. Thanks for the specialist recommendations, although they might be a bit far for me as I'm from England.
