a very solid german manufacturer of sheepskin coats is werner christ.
they are in the buisiness since 1954, so there are many „good as new“ on the aftermarket / at ebay.

I own two, one natural tan, one black. but we have no longer real winters, so only few days chance of wearing them…

Hey I understand your issue; I never really a fan of sheepskins as as you said it’s market traders of where I’m from alcoholics.

But when you look you can pick up really stylish ones, best off picking up modern sheepskins rather then vintage.

We have just added some shearlings from Reiss. £898 down to £419

Ok this arrived.

It smelled vintage and had an ink stain on the front. That aside, it appeared brand new. No wear at all and no lint in the pockets.

I set about the ink stain with rubbing alcohol and removed it entirely. 1/4 bottle of vodka removed most of the mustiness and airing it outdoors did the rest.

It is, amazingly, a millimetre perfect fit. It looks and feels super and I was complimented on it the first outing.

What I like about it especially is the wide lapels. Now I’ve thoroughly cleaned it the lay flat.

I need to get some boots to go with it. Any thoughts chaps?
