Shawshanking Girls

shawshanking a term from the movie shawshank redemption is when a guy/girl becomes friends/bestfriends with someone they like hoping that one day they would realise that they are really in love with them and how good they would be together. They work at it slowly picking away at them until they give in, much like the main character dug his way out of prison in the movie.

i am interested to see if this works, my gf thinks that my best friend, a female is a shawshanker.

How do you tell? have you guys shawshanked anyone before?

or worse, have you gone out with someone who had a shawshanking friend?

I've seen women do it, but it rarely (never?) seems to work when men do it. Throw my hat in with the rest - in any situation like yours, I just wonder how sensitive the trigger is (proportional to your alcohol tolerance?) for when it changes from platonic into a relationship-wrecker.

to be honest though, i do have a friends zone like the ones girls seem to have, i have always been direct with women i like, because i dont want to be that poor sap shawshanking away..

i have seen women do it, but they usually strike when the guy is vulnerable i.e after an argument/break up/getting drunk... and men are well.. we're men

i am pretty oblivious when it comes to these things, but apparently women see things us men don't... well she may be right because my gf isnt the insecure type.. but i met my best friend in college, what do you do in this situation, since nothing is confirmed. what would you do?
