Shawl collar - William lockie vs RLPL or another?

I’m looking for a heavy shawl collar sweater for casual attire.
I’ve had a cotton light one from Brooks Brothers in large which fit me well, and a Zegna 100% cashmere which is a bit loose but passable.

I recently bought a William Lockie wool shawl in large and it was way too baggy - long arms, long body, and chest to roomy.
I don’t know if going for a medium will solve the issue because I am not sure I like the cut overall.

another option would be RLPL cashmere one, which appears to be less heavy but having owned many RLPL knitwear, I really enjoy the overall aesthetic and design language of the brand. But it would not be the heavy winter shawl I was originally looking for.

anyone have any experience with either William Lockie or RLPL shawl collar sweater? Or perhaps the Permanent style one? Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated

I bought mine from Campbells of Beauly and recommend them highly for knitwear generally.

It is interesting to learn I've been demoted from IT48/M to XS according to their sizes 😂

how heavy is the 4-ply?
I like the light grey which is not available from many of the aforementioned vendors

Feels nice and heavy to me, though I’m no connoisseur and haven’t got anything to compare it to.

If you get to NYC visit De Corato. They will do a MTO or MTM cashmere sweater by Fedeli so it is adjusted to your measurements. It is a wonderful 9 ply. He has one on hand to try on. I think this cream color is especially handsome.
