Shaving Shoe Trees?

I have a couple of split-toe shoe trees that stretch out one of my shoes near the top of the vamp. Would it be feasible to manually shave off about 2 mm from a third of the shoe tree? I could either do it manually with some really coarse sandpaper; I also have access to a machine shop, if that would be required.

If you can afford the time and effort, and/ or if you are a DIY sort of bloke, it's technically, completely do-able. I've done it before as shoe trees cost a bomb to import down under.

Should you decide that it is not worth the while, just get new trees. It's not rocket science, and it only appears to affect one pair of your shoe, I really don't understand the need for a poll.
