Need insight on techniques for shaving. When you shave your sideburn area, do you shave down & away from the hair, or towards it?

The former method sometimes ,results in lopsided sideburns.

I first use a trimmer to trim my sideburn hair to the length I want and then shave down and up from there for a clean smooth shave.

Down and away for me. I can't imagine the opposite method producing decent results.

Use a razor designed for eyebrow trimming, you're much less likely to make a mistake and it cuts better.

I shave perpendicular to the line I am shaving. This is with a DE, so it might not hold true with a regular cartridge.

By shaving with just one side of the razor you can get a nice sharp line, and by being able to do it in one sweep it will also be even to its self. Easier when you have massive side burns, as well.

I always shave down and away from the hair. Shaving towards the hair always used to give me razor bumps. And just in case you're interested, I use the razor blades from www.westcoastshaving.com.
