Regardless of why you want to do it, here's my advice.

I was a serious cyclist for years and so I have a long background with shaved legs. It's always going to itch growing back in, however you get rid of it. Maybe a bit less so after waxing. Generally, I just shaved in the shower most of the time, but a couple times while dating women who waxed their own legs, I got my legs waxed. It lasts a bit longer, but it ******* hurts, not worth it I'd say. It's a lot of work to do for pretty minor benefits at the end of the day, and though I still ride, it's been years since I raced or felt the need to go smooth.

If you don't shave regularly (once or twice weekly) it's easier to run clippers over your legs first, and then shave the stubble. Less hair to get caught in your razor.
