a pint of milk goes for 6 pounds, and a loaf of bread (albeit Poilane) 30 pounds, an average loaf is around 6 pounds.

    How do you afford clothes?

Wow - I knew London was expensive, but all I can say is, "wow!"

Considering my family drinks about 3-gallons of milk each week, we would be broke just from that expense alone.

    I live on takeaways....

Not all of London is this expensive, not a chance. Actually, I've even found the westend, in places like Marylebone and Mayfair to be cheaper than around here. It's amazing what the old people around here will pay to have a clerek who speaks like the Prince of Wales, knows you by name, and all sorts of other fine touches. I for one am not a fan of all this. I mean I like that from my buliding porter, but in a convinence store, its not needed.
We've also got the congestion charge and petrol at 1 pound a liter.

Well, I have contemplated eating GFT's Rose & Violet although I have it from a reliable source (javyn [IMG] ) that it does not taste as good as it smells [IMG]

I just ordered Taylor's Rose, I think I'll follow that up with Barbershop as I imagine it would be a nice clean scent.

Bouji, I also use Khiel's, but the blue tube. It's $15.50 here - I feel bad for you. When a friend of mine visited form Scotland, he loaded up on Kiehl's here. London is insane...

I started using SOMERSETS Shave System.. With a few drops of Oil in the palm with a little water it was nice and felt good. They I went to their Shave Gel.. Really slick and good feeling. Especially with my DE Merkur..

In ATL this summer I went to The Art of Shaving Store.. Bought the Kit and with a brush it's soo nice to shave.. I love it.. I look forward to shaving now..

    R...

All I want to know is how Bouji lives in London and have any products from Taylor, Truefitt & Hill, or Trumper!!!!!!! They are so cheap in comparison to what we pay there and are infinitely better than anything Kiehl's/American Crew/etc. puts out imo......I mean T&H has been around for over 150 years.....the stuff is amazing [IMG]

I just bought a load of the Charles Tyrwhitt shaving soap off their web site. It's 75% off at the moment. It comes in a tub, you use a brush, it's highly concentrated; one tub easily lasts several months. I have no skin-irritation problems using it. Sales ends tomorrow.

    Proraso (green)

Musgo Real - scent is to die for

Kiss My Face - surprisingly great

Crabtree & Evelyn Sweet Almond Oil - kind of on the expensive side though

The expensive topshelf creams like Geo Trumper are definately good...but I don't think any better than what I've listed, and not worth paying twice as much for.

My 2.5oz tube of GFT Rose cost me $17.50 at British Isles. It smells great, but not worth no 20 dollars!

I have also stocked up on Will G from ebay's shaving soaps and aftershaves, before his passing. I've got 5 pucks of it I'm saving for a rainy day heh.

And skalogre is right...the GFT Limes actually tastes like earwax.

I use the Acqua di Parma shave stuff (cream, after shave) and also the body lotion and deodarant. It' the best stuff I've ever used (from a list of Art of Shaving, All the T's, Body Shop, Dr. Harris, Neutrogena). Just yesterday I picked up some Proraso green from Target because it is as cheap as the supermarket stuff. Used it once, like it and may alternate with the Acqua, if only to save some cash.

I've been using KMF for over ten years, after trying just about everything on the market. Initially, I was reluctant to try it because of it's low price, who knew?

No kidding. I have 2 drawers full of topshelf shaving creams and soaps, and KMF is the best I've used by far. It is just impossible not to get a good lather from it using a brush, and quicky too. KMF and Proraso are my shave champions.

edit: don't buy KMF on my advice anyone, then tell me how it sucks because you applied it without a brush. I don't want to hear it.

Been using the trumper soaps for years and I've had them all the limes, rose, violet, almond, coconut they're simply the best. Preceded by trumper shave oil, a bit expensive but lasts a long time. Sometimes I substitute moisturizer 10 mins before shaving. All applied with badger hair brush and with a standard sensor excel on an edwin jagger razor I get the best shaves with never a hint of irritation. Incidentally, I order straight from England and carriage is minimal at ten bucks vs the savings of buying them here. I get the tubs for around 18 each and they last months a piece.
