Shaving brushes

I am interested in opinions on whether a badger hair shaving brush gives one a noticeably closer shave compared to using fingertips to spread shaving cream and, if so, whether the shave gets better the more expensive brush is used.  Thanks.

Personally, I believe that the shaving brush gives a closer shave. The bristles stimulate the beard and ensure that more hairs are standing up and ready to be cut (also cuts down on razor burn).

As for the more expensive brushes... all brushes will give you the same experience and result. Brushes are priced differenly based on their brand and the material used in the handle. Thus, a relatively nice, but inexpensive brush should do the trick.
