Shaved Head...

So do any of you chaps have a shaved head? I mean in the sense that it is shaved to the skin with a razor of some description.

If so, what do you use, preparation wise, how often do you shave, what sort of after care creams or scrubs do you use as well?

I have a tendency to do it in the shower, Usually washing first and then using shaving gel and using a Gilette Mach 3 turbo against the grain (I find it extremely hard to go with the grain on my head). I then use a Clinique exfoliator and Hugo Boss skin revitalising moisture cream after.

The problem I have is that I get extremely oily skin on my head, I have tried NOT using the cream after as it is very thick but I find that I get rashes etc.

Is there anything that you know of that stops oily skin in its tracks?

Thanks

Paging Patrick Bateman! I shave my head with a double-blade disposable, using regular shave gel and just apply a moisturizer with sunscreen after. That's it. Been doing this for about 2 years.

Haha yeah thanks for that.

Ive been doing mine for 8 years now (since I was 17), and I've always had the trouble with my head getting overly oily after a few hours. Even if I use soap as a medium (in place of shave cream) but then this does have a tendency to cause the razor to rust as it transfers a residue from the soap - No good when using straight edge razors especially. Strangely I dont get spots as a result of the exessive oil (which is a blessing), its just uncomfortable when someone may touch it, knowing they wont like what they feel, not to mention the fact that I dont like it.

Does wiping the oil off with a cotton rag or something help?

It does, but I was looking for a more permanent measure. It is probably my luck that it's just my skin type and that I can't do anything about it.

I use a Headblade and Aveeno or Headslick shaving cream

To avoid shine / oily head syndrome I then wash with Kiehl's Blue Astringent.

That is one funky razor! I prefer to use my Mach 3 turbo as it is great for shaving, its just the aftercare (to stop it being oily) that I need. That Blue Astringent looks like its worth a try though at least.

How long have you been using it and what sort of results have you seen?

I've been using the Kiehls for about 3 years. It dries out oily skin but does not use alcohol, so you don't get overly dry.

Trust me on the headblade - it makes things a lot easier. You can get one at Walgreens for a few bucks.

I take it down to skin every 5 days, at the same time that I shave (hectic schedule). Straight razor or a double edge razor, and whatever shaving cream I happen to be using that day.

Anyone else get little scabby bumps after shaving it super smooth and the hair starting to grow back?
