Shagreen accessories

Would you buy/use shagreen accessories? If so, what kind of items? Card holders, wallets, etc. I like exotic skins--even as simple as gator and croc--for small accessories, where a little flash seems acceptable. My every day wallet is snakeskin, but I'll probably replace it soon.

Yes, I do not like exotics for shoes but do like them for "accessories." I would buy shagreen.

I my area live cows and not too many snakes and crocs. But if you are Crocodile Dundee you will pull it off.

Generally no, but a few years back I saw a dunhill lighter wrapped in shagreen. Seemed like a pretty good idea considering how durable it is and how lighters tend to get knocked around. If I came across another one, I'd consider it.

The only accessory I carry is a card holder but I would get one in shagreen if there was one I liked. Watch strap? Nah. Maybe a flask wrapped in shagreen leather.

OK, there are no Himalayan goats in your neighborhood. But what will you express with crocs? And what is next. Wearing alien?

IMO, everything which results in looking more coherent is fine. Everything which looks like the great adventurer (which was in the 19th century, not these days) or a kind of outback buddy (hillbilly) makes all other items unnecessary ('look at the hillbilly with the nice suit and the englisch shoes').

But it is only my opinion.

I have a shagreen-wrapped Dunhill lighter, although I no longer smoke anything since returning from Freedom. Also a shagreen watchband and a shagreen travel frame... along with shagreen coasters, a cigar case, some boxes... so yeah, I like. Arnys is selling shagreen pocketknives with damasked (sp?) blades for an astronomical price... gorgeous if completely impractical.

I have some shagreen picture frames and boxes, but I prefer gator/croc for wallets and belts.

I once saw a vintage shagreen glasses case on which I should have pulled the trigger.

Now I'm a bit confused. I thought shagreen referred to rayfish leather? If so, then yes. I had a rayfish wallet years back- before switching to a thin cardholder. Certainly miss it- gorgeous green hue. Too bad it's just too thick. The lighter sounds very nice...
