I have a pair of Allen Edmonds Saxon that I acquired recently. I waffle back and forth whether I like the style or not. I wanted to get the opinion of the AE connoisseurs out there on what their thoughts about these are?

Can't say I'm shocked by the responses. I will preface my purchase by stating I have a whooping $10.00 invested in mine (purchased at the GW). I wasn't crazy about the look but they were in very good shape and I figured if I didn't like them I could get my money back out of them on E-Bay.

A lot of younger fellows like the bicycle toe. My 24-year-old stepson's favorite dress shoes are his bicycle toe Allen-Edmonds Hillcrests.

Frankly they're not my taste, although I did buy the bicycle toe A-E Mapleton, mostly for walking my dog.

Briefly put, if they give you pleasure and you think you look good in them, go ahead and wear them. There are plenty of worse-looking shoes out there.

It appears you've never ridden a bicycle with mouse traps on the pedals.

I don't buy the "if you like them, wear them" idea.

The guy came here for advice, given that this is one of the great sources of information for men's clothing.

OP would be better off realizing now that these shoes are butt-ass ugly rather than being content with wearing them just because he already bought them.

Sure, they're fine for now, but you should definitely think about purchasing a new pair very soon....or at least as soon as your cash flow allows you to.
