Go get Paul Maholm. He's a good pitcher on a terrible team.

If I'm trading Utley or Kinsler, I'll be expecting a good pitcher on a good team...

I think someone like Maholm might still be a FA.

Whats the point of getting a "good pitcher" if he's on a shitty team that'll blow his wins and not give consistent run support?

Um, ERA, Ks, WHIP? Sometimes it's better to get 10 wins and not have them drag down your other other categories than to get 15 and have them blow up your ratios.

I'll check later, but I don't think he is.

Like I said though, If I'm trading away one of the projected top 2 or 3 2nd basemen, I'm going to want more upside than Maholm. l'm thinking that he might be worth a notoriously slow-starting CC Sabbathia. If Captain Cheeseburger struggles in April, I'm going to make an offer.

Last draft in T-minus 37 minutes.
Drafting out of the seventh spot.
12 team League. Will update when done.

Oh, and this league is a "Team Pitching" league. Wacky, no?

Team Pitching? So you draft teams' rotations?

Who are you considering? If I were you, I'd be thinking Atlanta, Florida, or Tampa Bay.

Lincecum was the definition of "good pitcher, shitty team" last year. A good pitcher always gets you the counting stats and ratios. Ws are an exception, but in general wins are wacky stats (Aaron Cook had 16 wins for Colorado? wha?) Lots of people don't look to shitty teams for good pitching, and those guys are often the best values to be had (Burnett and Shields last year, Slowey this year). Same goes for closers: Matt Capps walked 5 batters in 53 IP last year and Soria had his 40+ saves for the Royals...both are super talented but went after round 10 in most leagues.

Probably my weakest draft so far.

    C - Ryan Doumit
    1B - Connor Jackson
    2B - Ian Kinsler
    SS - J.J. Hardy
    3B - Mark DeRosa
OF - Curtis Granderson, Matt Holliday, Grady Sizemore
    Util - Nate McLouth

    Pitching - Tampa Bay

Bench - Mike Aviles, Xavier Nady, Todd Helton, Hank Blalock, Ryan Church, Jorge Posada

Ouch yeah. Sizemore at 7, Kinsler at 14, Holliday at 21...decided to hold off on a 1B?

Basically, the MLB.com pre-ranking is stupid, and there were about nine autodrafters. Every time it came around to my turn, the next best 1B was a big reach. Four 1B went off the board in the first round. Berkman, Cabrera, (I picked Sizemore at this point) Howard, Teixera. Before my second round pick, Fielder, Gonzalez, and Ortiz went off the board. (I took Kinsler here) Before my third round pick, Lee, Dunn, Morneau, and Youkilis were gone. (I took Holliday) Then right after my pick, LaRoche, Votto, and Pena went. It was brutal.

Wow, that's pretty ridiculous. I'm especially shocked about Gonzalez in the 2nd, and Lee and Dun in the 3rd. Wait, so after your third-round pick someone autodrafted Adam LaRoche?? What, Paul Konerko or Carlos Delgado weren't ranked higher?

Actually, I think that was one of the few non-auto drafts. I have really never seen a run on 1B like that. I thought it was a pretty deep position, but I guess it dries up pretty quickly when fourteen 1B get taken in the first four rounds. I decided not to reach and panic, and to just take the first guy who made sense. Connor Jackson was round nine, Helton was round twelve, Blalock round fifteen. I swear though, that there is a team out there with five or six first basemen. Edit: just looked. Team "Judgement Day" has Berkman, Gonzalez, Youkilis, Overbay, and Hafner.

How about Huff, Cantu, or that dude from Seattle?

    They're all 1B eligible?

Mike Jacobs- lots of HR and RBI- AVG tailed off at the end of last year...

Huff and Cantu went pretty early as well. And what dude from seattle, Brian LaHair? Or Russel Branyan? They are splitting time there.

He might be thinking of Richie Sexton? Who isn't there anymore?

Also, Boof Bonser has been nothing but a disappointment for the Twins. What a shame.
