You can remove the light from the fan and cap it, but I think you're better off with a new fan. http://www.modern-fans.com/

I was going to butch that place up for the open house and casually display a Playboy on the coffee table but the only issue I have is the one with this pic:

Well...I know how I'm going to spend the rest of my afternoon...modern-fans.com here I come...nothing like wasting valuable company time...

And although I think that's a rad picture I somehow doubt a detailed discussion will help our case. I mean...I know I only pick up the occasional Playboy for the articles...but if I am going to prove my machoness I'm gonna have to look at the tits-n-ass...

I think so too. Leather. Black and white palate. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Clive Barker and Star Wars (I know...I'm a nerd) posters.

Oh well, I guess being clean, organized and having a small sense of style constitutes gay guy around Kansas City.

I think the problem might be that the chicks who were saying that were the mad-at-dad in their mid 20s types. They'd probably only been to dumps where several college aged dudes lived together who enjoyed the smell of spilled beer and old laundry and their idea of home decor was a ratty futon and whatever couch they could get for free.

No. Never attended KCAI. I was accepted for the painting program but decided it would be a better career path to pursue my love of writing and editing. I got a degree in English (I know...nothing like picking a stable and oft-sought-after degree) and got into publishing. After working for a variety of magazines and a marketing firm I'm now a book editor for an international publishing company. Let me tell you...publishing is getting its ass kicked. Maybe I need to reconsider my artistic aspirations...

I find it strange why people would post pictures of where they live on the internet.

Do you all think your living your own version of vogue living? So far all I've seen is some vague middle class desire to show off ones internet e-penis.

I'm sorry but posting pictures of the mansion you live in with a ferrari parked out the front is a silly display of wealth. It is insulting and tacky to people from all socio-economic backgrounds, especially in an economic environment where alot of people have lost and/or are looking for jobs.

You may as well make a thread stating something like "SF: Bank Account: How big is your statement" or "SF: Wives: How Hot is the ass you tap each night?". Vulgar. What ever happened to the days of discrete wealth? [IMG]

You are doing SF completely wrong.

[IMG] I have been told on several occasions: "I can't believe a single, straight guy lives here..."

The fan is totally functional but extremely ugly. I've seen several very cool, industrial fans I'd like to put up. I never use the light anyway.

MetroStyle's apartment looks like a typical guy's bachelor pad (at least in NYC).

"Chud Style" is the proper design term.

I'd love to move my loft to NYC...unfortunately I keep finding jobs in KC. Know anyone who's hiring?

your apartment would be at least a solid $2,000 in NYC, or $3,000+ (conservative) for an area like Chelsea.

Not sure if I'm that concerned. I mean...if we're getting super nit-picky the skin tone is too painted looking too.

Yeah, KC may not have the best shopping or nightlife or concerts or restaurants...or much for that matter...but real estate prices are pretty cheap compared to most other markets.

One of my favorite quotes from proponents of the Kansas City metro area is: "It's a very livable city." Like that's something to shoot for...being livable...
