SF Approved Mainstream Designer Brands?

I couldn't find a thread on this, so apologies if it's already been done. There seems to be an underlying perception that it's "us versus them" when it comes to clothing enthusiasts compared to the general public. Many of the brands favored here are not well-known, and many household names are not well-liked here. I'd be curious to see which brands straddle that divide and qualify as both famous designer brands as well as high quality makes in the minds of SF-ers. So for the sake of discussion, list a few big names that you think make the cut and a few that don't.
