Yes, I realize -- thanks for the friendly reminder. It's not in my nature to go around giving unsolicited advice. Sartorial standards in the San Francisco Bay Area where I live can be dull to say the least -- it was refreshing not to see everyone wearing fleece and chinos. Just kept seeing more room for improvement...

Couldn't agree more. I'm a terribly humble guy and I think that's part of the reason why people at work, friends or family ask me for sartorial advice which I think is key unless they're going to represent on your behalf then you might have to butt in lol

You'll get over it. I used to notice that kind of stuff all the time, and while I still see it, I've come to accept it. Most people wear ill-fitting, shoddily-made clothes that they don't put together well. It doesn't make them bad people. The key to sartorial happiness is to dress only for yourself.

It happened to me not long ago.

A nice guy was selling me a $25k copier. While he was jabbering on I noticed his shoes. They were in terrible condition and ugly. Mostly, they were in horrid condition.

I asked him to leave and refused to sign the contract. That's right, because his shoes sucked.

Life is that way I guess.

My boss sometimes wears a pair of khaki chinos, the cuffs are ripped because they're too long and scrape across the ground. It prompts me wonder what he does with the money he makes, it obviously doesn't go into his wardrobe. I question if he even care that he's working at a client site representing our company?! SF has also affected my girlfriend. Even though she doesn't read, she sometimes looks at the WAYWN thread with me and comments. She said that she cannot believe how poorly her co-workers and managers are dressed (this is at a very large "Bank Holding Company" too). When she's in meetings she can't help but notice the horribly ill fitting suits, poorly tied ties, and ugly loafers. She's happy I've learned so much from SF and encourages my sartorial hobby

I've also blown more money on clothing in the last 6 months than I have in all my previous years put together!

Although your 100% right, sometime you can't help but to notice someone else's shortcomings. Its really like a car wreck or something so ugly, you can't help but to stare at it or not being able to get your mind off of it.

OMG dude, you've described my boss to a tee. He is the very same way...only difference, he does it with jeans and it skeeves me out all the time. I have to fight myself daily not to say something and it doesn't help matters that I come in all kinds of outfits outside of a suit. I'm seriously considering calling on Clinton and Stacy to intervene

You will get over this; actually quicker than you can fathom.

Then you'll go back to noticing all the nice racks and back doors. You might spend an inordinate amount of time looking at your turds though, so everything won't be going back to normal for you.
