I've had a pair for about 6 months now. They are stiff as fuck. Excuse my language. They look good, but dont expect leather anywhere close to ex. C&J og Santoni.

Oh, I see. I agree that environment can be a factor depending on how much you want to mesh with a certain milieu (or not), your body shape on the other hand (Middle-europeans tend to be bigger then Meditteraneans) is always there with you. I have trouble imagining a large businessman from Dusseldorf wearing some grey flannel double-breasted suit with sleek patinated blue chelseas. This goes back to the styleforum shoe/rest of the person&outfit disconnect I often mention.

Just thought that I would post my opinions, since I just recently received a pair of SL that I bought during the sale.
I will start out by saying that I'm no where near a "shoe expert", the only good shoes I own are these SL, a pair of C&J Brecon and a pair of captoes made by Sutor Mantellassi for Luigi Borelli. I'll also go ahead and mention that English is my third language, so I beg that any of you who read this will overlook any glaringly obvious mistakes on my part.

The shoes I chose to order is a Jodphur boot, since I've had a hard time finding a reasonably priced one that I like. The leather quality is quite some ways of the leather of my C&J, which is thinner and much softer. This was to be expected, but I quite like the thickness of the leather, I think it's quite fitting for a boot which will mostly be used for country and casual wear.

The shoe is made on SL last 174, which is quite sleek, if not as (in my subjective opinion) pretty as last 341. I will, however, say that the SL fit my feet extremely well so far. They were comfortable from the very first moment of me putting them on. When I was about to order I inquired about which size I ought to order, and I was recommended to order a UK8,5. I decided to go with my own hunch, and got myself a UK9, just as my Brecon. If I had went with the size recommended by customer service I would definitely have had to return them.

These shoes have a rubber sole which resembles a Danite sole, but it most definitely isn't made by Danite, it's just not as nice and the heel pattern is different.. I will say that the sole is acceptable in any case, I think it'll last and I get a good grip with them.

My overall opinion is that they are nice for the price I paid, and bear in mind that I live in the EU, so I don't get VAT deducted. They might not be to the high standards of most members here, but personally I wouldn't mind buying another pair next time the sale comes around.

Jakezero - Your English is very good and your post a valuable contribution. Particularly since you are judging a product once you have worn it and not merely passing comment based on a photo.

I have a colleague who owns some Septieme Largeur, he's perfectly satisfied with them. I have seen them age and can ascertain how the quality of materials, workmanship, finish etc is...
Whilst they are not a brand I'd consider for myself, I can certainly appreciate the appeal.

Here are the shoes from the original post in this thread on their 3rd or 4th wearing.

I have applied several layers of cream polish in brown, navy, and cognac in order to slightly darken the color. Perhaps a bit too much?

I rubbed the cream polishes in very briskly and deeply in order to drive the oils into the leather - this has slightly improved the flexibility of the leather - it is a little less stiff - although still far from luciously soft and pliable.

Based on the photo and comparing to before I'd say so.

They are still good lookers, but are you getting a little over zealous with all the creaming? (across all your shoes)

I also received a pair of Septième Largeur boots two days ago:

I asked them what size I should get. They told me to order a UK9.
I decided to be stubborn and order a UK10. Thank god! They fit perfectly!
The leather quality is quite good. The looks are imo great: just what I was looking for in a Balmoral.
I don't find them very comfortable. After 3-4 hours of wear my feet started to hurt.
Maybe they just need some breaking in.
For the price I paid I'm happy with them. Let's hope they will last a long time.

My next purchase will be a wholecut with a G&G vintage cherry colored patina.
But first I need some suede double monks. (C&J Lowndes but would like to buy them on sale or something :) )

depends which direction you are going to. as long as you have fun, it shouldn't matter.
