Selvedge chinos

Is selvedge fabric an attractive feature in chinos, all else being equal?

Is there a point? (Genuine question -- cross-posting to Classic Meanswear for obvious reasons.)

Cheers.

About as much of a point as there is to selvedge jeans.

Care to elaborate? I reckon with jeans there is an authenticity issue (i.e. that's how denim used to be made etc.), but I don't think that applies to chinos. Incidentally, I realised that one of my APCs (faux noir) is not selvedge, but the denim seems undistinguishable from the others.

I'm speaking from a practical perspective. The selvedge itself keeps the fabric from fraying, but this isn't really a concern on the inside of an outseam, for any kind of pant. It's an aesthetic detail.
