Selvage Jeans at Target?

Anybody know anything about these new Converse Selvage Jeans at Target? They've got a nice plain dark wash that fits pretty slim and looks good on me, but I'm wondering about the quality. For only 40 bucks I'm not expecting anything great, but that seems like such a low price for dark selvage denim that I'm wondering if it's worth it anyway. FWIW, I only pay about 50 bucks for my usual jeans (Levi's 501s or 514s), so the $40 price for these Converse jeans is near my usual spending, but for selvage... seems like a steal. Anybody have any experience with these?

Selvedge does not always equal quality.

Jeans are durable in general. You'll probably (at worst) get enough use out of them to justify the price. If you like them and they look good on you, go for it. Post back with pics too :p

And quality does not equal durability.

This is like saying a '79 Pinto with three tires is a steal for $100 because it's a car.

Sorry about the misspelling of selvedge. I should have seen that.

Yeah, I figured they wouldn't be great quality based on the brand, price, etc. but thought someone here might have heard something about them. Guess I'll stick with my Levi's.

For 40 bucks, they seem pretty low risk. May be worth a shot as a pair of beaters.

Oh, never mind then. I thought the jeans themselves said "selvage" but when everyone started spelling it the other way I figured I must have been wrong.

you're not wrong. they do say "Selvage". it's just an alternate spelling...selvedge = selvage. same definition.

anyways, i bought 2 pairs of these in-store. they were on sale for $27.99!
made in China, but c'mon...selvage jeans for less than 30 bucks! it's still selvage! they fit and look decent, as well.
not even gonna care when i machine wash them. haha.

guess you calling me a lemming then. alright, i'm new here, but i guess i'll have to start using the 'block member' option earlier than expected.

just wanted to help by confirming that Selvage=Selvedge; had to sign up to do so.
i guess non-lemmings have to buy expensive jeans at small-box stores to feel special.

    surprisingly, they're not shitty.

that design feature/stripe is like a by-product, an indicator of how the fabric is loomed. how it's loomed is what's nice.
but in the end they're still cookie-cutter jeans, right?
