Selecting Fabric for MTM Suit

I am seeking input on the selection of fabric for a MTM suit. I have two choices that I am selecting from and would like some opinions. Both fabrics are Super 150 in a dark charcoal color.

One has a faint red pinstripe and then a slightly lighter pinstripe follows it. I guess the two stripes are 1/2 inch apart.

The second piece of fabric is charcoal and only has the faint red stripes that are about 1 inch apart.

I am leaning more toward the second choice, but does anyone have an opinion on these two? The suit will be for all-around use and will be SB, 3 button, with functional sleeves.

They'd better be functional if you plan to use the suit all-around

I have a charcoal gray suit with red stripes (Scabal fabric) and although it's not my most versatile item of clothing I'm happy with it. The red stripes are pretty subtle, though ...

I meant that the sleeves had real functioning button holes.

The red stripe I was speaking of is fairly subtle as well. In what way do you feel like it limits you?

I am beginning wonder if I should go with a solid charcoal.

Do you realize that the super numbers aren't indicative of fabric quality? And that higher super numbers are generally less durable than lower numbers? I generally wouldn't consider 150s for a workhouse suit.

I have a charcoal grey 9 oz 150's that is now the only suit I wear. In retrospect I should have chosen a heavier cloth / high twist wool because the drape is not a nice as I'd like it to be.

If that is an option, I would go with solid charcoal rather than the red stripes.

Any color stripes that are highly noticeable will limit your choice of shirts and ties, so if you are looking for a "all round" type of fabric, I would go with the solid. As they say...simple is best

Btw I chose charcoal for its invisibilty. No one will think twice that you are wearing the same suit everyday. With a red stripped suit, no one will have a doubt.

I suggest that you go with the 1/2 red stripe. Please post a picture of the suit when finished.

I'm currently getting a charcoal suit with faint red pinstripes made up. For that one, IIRC, the stripes are about 1/2" apart, roughly but all the same colour. I'm not sure I'm keen on fabrics where stripe colours alternate. It looks a bit odd to me, especially on a suit.

This may just be my personal prejudice of course.
