Seiko Watches - Underrated?

The stated accuracy range appears to be "under promise, over deliver". All my Seiko 5s are as good as my ETA watches (and can be tweaked to COSC specs).

Too bad because both of those are quite nice [see note] but not sure I'd be willing to pay that much for "just" a Seiko.

Note: I've never seen the Spirit in person but I don't get the love for it from the pics I've viewed on the net. The first watch posted here is so much better looking IMO.

What's the model number of that watch? I can't seem to find it anywhere on Seiko's website.

I've heard of the Seiya website, but is it a legitimate source for Seiko watches? I notice that a lot of Seiko watches aren't available in North America. Does Seiya ship from Japan? Can someone with experience with Seiya give me some info on this company?

I finally got around to replacing the bracelet on my humble seiko 5 with a leather strap from the local watch dealer, I think it looks much better

they are not underrated, arguably some watches held in higher regard are overrated, but Seiko are not underrated IMHO.

As long as people still hold onto the perception of Seiko as a low-rent watch brand(in no small part, due to the company's meager offerings stateside) AND not see with their own eyes the terrific values within all levels (and there's a wide range of them) of Seiko products, yes, Seiko is still underrated.

Seiko might not be underrated on SF, thanks to the significant overlapping between SF membership and TZ/WUS. Even then, it has taken quite sometime for their reputation to spread on word of mouth.

I like at least one seiko in practically every line they make. in my dream lineup of fine watches, at least one of them would certainly be a GS.

its practically meaningless to argue about whether they are "overrated or underrated or rated just right", you would first have to have a consensus on how they are "rated" and there is none.

What model is this? I'd really like an alarm. Found it.

I have had a Seiko kinetic calendar diver's as a daily driver for several years and am really sold on the brand.

I'd get a springdrive long before I'd pop for a Swiss watch.

Have bought from Seiya previously and have no complaints whatsoever. Higuchi the same.
