i feel i will get flamed for this, but I'm going to a formal/semi-formal red carpet event (if that makes sense). Can I wear a pair of cream linen pants, seersucker vans, and light blue button down shirt? Do I need a tie or jacket?.....I'm in Memphis and its stupid humid and hot!

Thanks Joseph

You might elaborate on what you mean by a "formal/semi-formal red carpet" event. Ordinarily, this would imply some variant of black-tie attire. I get the sense from your post, however, that this may not be the case.

Without knowing more about this, I think most forumites would concur that sneakers are inappropriate for any but the most casual of events.

Unless you are planning to make a statement with your fashion of dress, I don't think the shoe choice meets the Formal/Semi-formal requirement.

Unless it is some hip-hop/new age/teenage crowd then all bets are off.

you need to further elaborate on what you mean by "formal" and "dressed up?. Most here would consider formal to be a tuxedo and informal to be trousers, a sportcoat, and tie.

Their definition of "formal/semi-formal" isn't in the same universe as SFs. I'm actually surprised they're aware of the term.

Your initial selection will be fine.
