Seersucker suit

It's getting time to break out the seersucker again. Or for those of us who are newbies, time to purchase one. Being in the latter category, I neglected to think about footwear to accompany said suit.
Searching here yielded: white bucks and spectator shoes. Are these the only options? Also, where can appropriate shoes, such as but not limited to the aforementioned choices, be found at good prices? Thanks in advance.

The lighest tan you can find. But I would always go with the white buckskin or the specs. If you're going to dress like Colonel Sanders, might as well go the distance.

Assuming that you can keep it clear of fried chicken stains, does not the color of the seersucker matter?

No. Blue is best, but since the only appropriate light shoes are white and tan, those are the only options. I have seen guys wear black with seersucker. Seriously awful. Burgundy is only slightly less bad.

Well, I suppose that you could make a seersucker fabric in a coloration that would not work well with white bucks, but all the colorations that I've ever seen made into a suit (pink and white, red and white, light blue and white, navy blue and ivory, gray and white, forrest green and white, tan and white) would look appropriate with those shoes.

Col. Sanders?.? Is KFC the only thing seersucker conjures to mind? I was not thinking there was such negative connotations associated with it. Does this mean it is merely associated with the south or perhaps a southern gentleman? Or is it much more negative than that?

Oh, I was just being cheeky. Yes, they are seen as somewhat Southern. Not that that's bad. Personally, I like them. But they do stand out. I find it amusing when a guy will wear a seersucker suit and then fret about white shoes. It's like ordering a bacon-double and large fries, and then insisting on a diet Coke. Sort of. You get the idea.

As a beach resort-dweller, seersucker is certainly more at home here that in the middle of a dirty, sooty city. You might factor that into your plans.

I should think woven shoes in tan would complement seersucker particularly nicely--something on the order of the Allen-Edmonds Lauderdale in chili. Am I mistaken in this? Like the bucks or the specs, they would be very appropriate to a "summer" look.

I don't know -- I think a blue seersucker, white shirt and black alden penny loafers looks swell. It's about the only suit I'd cotton to wearing a pair of black penny loafers with (or penny loafers at all), but still I think it looks swell and it's worth deviating from the norm on this.

I'm gonna go ahead and say wear flip-flops. I'm serious. But make sure they are leather ones. Now you can all flame me.

I always think of Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch in the film To Kill A Mockingbird.

As long as there black -- I'd have to agree with you. I didn't have the courage to espouse the flips, but I'm glad that you did. Thank you.
